An idle factory is wasted money.įinal note, 1949 is an economic recession due to a pull back in government spending (if I am not mistaken). They ran near a dozen marques, all catering to specific niches and demographics.Īlso, in theory, you want your factories to always be at max production. Take for instance GM, who maintained the largest car manufacturer in the world for many decades. The largest companies in the automotive industry generally cater to all demographics, but their primary marque is always targets the lower and middle class. But I will point out that historically, nearly every company that has catered to wealthy demographics alone has either gone bankrupt or has become a marque for another company. I'll let others give more in-depth advice for what they found to work. Am I missing something? Should I just be (more) willing to build expensive engines, in order to up their performance? Time is on my side, and the cash reserves mean we have time.īut even though engine research is ample, I never really have models that are rated highly in power/performance. I am reluctant to close branches and factories, as I always feel like it is a matter of time before they will be profitable. Should I focus on developing better models, for wealthier demographics, and bigger margins, or should I just simply increase prices, and if there are idle factories, close them down. I think the losses are due to money-losing branches, and my prices for most vehicles being too low. Now, if the losses were equal to R&D it would be fine, but it just slightly more. I make $20m in revenue a month, but expenses are closer to $25m. I am now post-WWII, and financial investments have paid off big time, I have vast cash reserves but I struggle to make any operating income. Then the factories were largely used for munitions during WWII (located in NA, with a factory opening in Spain and Mexico, to fulfill other orders). My company got a number of military contracts, due to having made a popular truck design around 1926, so it was fairly cheap to build through the 30s (with some upgrades over the years, naturally). This allowed for some timely investments to be made a few years into the Great Depression. Having an inkling that the good times of the 1920s would not last forever, my company held off investing in factories and new branches, and instead built up a financial safety net, of around $60 or $70m by 1929. How to create and save custom page templates. If you want to use custom productivity templates on your iPad, we’ve put together a free, walkthrough guide along with two of our in-house templates that can help you get started. Custom Productivity Templates for Your iPad Here is our breakdown of what differentiates the two applications, and the major features which define not only the two apps, but the category of note-taking apps as a whole. We get the question of “which is better” all the time, but the feature-set and user interfaces are different enough to warrant a nuanced conversation. Each of the apps has their own sets of strengths and weaknesses, making the choice of which to use more of a personal preference than a solid answer. The two kings of the category are GoodNotes and Notability, two apps which have been receiving consistent developer attention for years now. The iPad’s size relative to a standard piece of paper begs for this use, and with the bezels slimming further and further and the Pencil becoming more of a standard addition to the iPad setup, note-taking apps are truly coming into their own. Though the category has existed for as long as the iPad itself, it hasn’t been until recent developments such as the Apple Pencil’s release that it’s grown into something truly capable of replicating the experience of pen and paper. Since the inception of the iPad, note-taking apps have been one of the most obvious and compelling use cases for the device, but also one of the hardest to pull off correctly. To go back to the programs this post is about, one great fact about Actual Multiple Monitors is that its “Scroll inactive windows with the mouse wheel” feature works absolutely flawlessly, better than both KatMouse and WizMouse. The combination of KatMouse / WizMouse and Volume² tends to stop working after some time, and I need to click on the Volume² tray icon to restore the intended behavior. Usually, there is no need to do that, but I personally use Volume², a small tool that allows altering the system audio volume by scrolling over the taskbar or blank desktop space. These work quite well, except they are not reliable at sending scroll inputs to non-Window UI parts. The two I have tried are KatMouse and WizMouse. There have been a few freeware ad-free apps in the past that allowed for scrolling non-focus windows below the mouse pointer. Hovering the mouse cursor over the side bar to the left will still have the mouse wheel scroll the file list, so if I want to scroll the side bar, I need to click on any entry there or the small whitespace in-between first. In the screenshot above, the file list has focus from clicking on “PC”. The one thing that seems to be the same for everyone is that no Windows 10 update has completely fixed the problem so far, so I will stay with 8.1 as long as possible. There are many similar reports on the internet, for example here. In Windows 8.1 and 7, this problem has never occurred. My main computer, for example, has DPC latency spikes that cause one second of audio and video stuttering every 30 minutes when I run Windows 10. Updating to Windows 10 would seem like a solution, however there are quite a number of people for whom Windows 10 introduces a number of problems not present in up to 8.1. For example, if I have many items in the side bar and the main file list, I want to alternate frequently between scrolling the side bar and the file list. In Windows 8.1, Windows 7 and earlier, there is nothing like that, which is often really bothersome. This option works perfectly well for scrolling non-focus Windows, so in Windows 10, no third-party feature for that is necessary. In Windows 10, there is an option to scroll whatever is below the mouse cursor. I think these are features that many people who use a large number of monitors might want, so in this post, I will first focus on these aspects in detail and then go into other features and general program behavior. Allow for quick monitor layout adjustments (resolution, refresh rates, positions) Create a mirror of a window or monitor, so that two different monitors show the same content without needing to use Windows’ “duplicate these screens” feature.Ħ. Put a number of windows into quadrants of a monitor’s screen (for easier file management in a number of places)ĥ. Call a window to the monitor that has the mouse pointerĤ. Send a window to a different screen quickly, with the option to maximize it directlyģ. Send scroll wheel inputs to the program / GUI part directly below the mouse pointerĢ. These are the features that I was hoping to get:ġ. Neither Windows 7, 8.1 nor 10 offer a lot of functionality in that regard, so I’ve spent the last half year or so occasionally using the trial versions of two programs that intend to help with that. Many of the original PowerToys are now integrated into the Windows operating system, such as Command Prompt Here (opens a Command Prompt window in your current folder) and Send to X (send the selected file to a location from the context menu).I like using multiple monitors and I like being able to arrange, move and use windows between them quickly and in the most automated way possible. PowerToys was a set of freeware system utility apps Microsoft developed for Windows 95 and Windows XP, and now for Windows 10 and Windows 11. The Fancy Zones app is part of the revitalized Microsoft PowerToys project. To use Fancy Zones, you must install the PowerToys utilities, then enable Fancy Zones through the utility manager. If Fancy Zone's default grids are not to your liking, you can create a custom grid layout with multiple zones. Each grid adds extra snap-to lines to your monitor, allowing you to push your apps around the screen with ease. The default layouts include rows, columns, grids, and a handy priority grid. It brings the functionality of several other apps on this list into a Windows 10 or Windows 11-specific app.įancy Zones splits your monitor layout into several easy-to-use monitor layouts. Fancy Zones is an extension of the Windows 10 and Windows 11 snap tool. The winner of the best window manager tool undoubtedly goes to Microsoft's Fancy Zones. As a smoker, I keep a bottle of cologne in my car to mask the smell if I’m meeting someone. There are many different applications for Reviver. I think this product could grow big quickly and be acquired by a big consumer products company for hundreds of millions of dollars! The Kusins patented the clothing swipes concept and delivery system, so Reviver is going to be all alone in a new product category. Since Reviver was an innovation in the consumer products space, they found acceptance from buyers at Walgreens and Petco. Since the concept of clothing swipes is brand new, the brothers faced an educational obstacle that they turned in their favor. Eric was a buyer for Neiman Marcus at the time and he brought a lot of value to the business. After a couple of years of development and testing, Reviver Clothing Swipes were ready for market.īen enlisted his brother Eric’s help. There was nothing on the market like what he envisioned, so he set about inventing it. Report this adThe original idea for the product came when Ben, a smoker, wanted to eliminate the odor of smoke from his clothes without dousing himself in cologne. Reviver Clothing Swipes are a small, fabric covered “swipe” that fit over your fingers when you swipe it across your clothing, the fragrance infused waxy material inside the fabric releases a freshening and odor neutralizing scent on clothing or hair. Ben and Eric Kusins, brothers from a very entrepreneurial family, introduce a new “fragrance delivery system,” Reviver Clothing Swipes, to Shark Tank and the world in episode 606. Within this directory, locate the file named "generals.csf". Go back to the ZH directory (if you have never done this before) and look through the list of files and you should see ENGLISHZH.big. Once you have extracted these to your desktop, you can move them to your zero hour directory under data/ini. There are two files you need to extract now. Locate the file INIZH.big and double click on it. Open up XCC mixer and navigate to your Zero Hour directory. You can now minimize the folder and move on to step 2. However, you can go further and help out future use if inside the INI folder you do not see the folder named "objects", then create it now. *I highly recomend you make a shortcut to this folder on your desktop.* Once you enter the INI folder, you have completed the first step. Inside of this folder you should see a folder named "INI" (and if not, create it) and a folder named "English" (if not create it). On the top of the lists should be folders. Once you have found and entered the directory, I recomend you hit the "sort by file type" button. Most likely you cn find it through my computer -> program files -> EA Games -> (The first decade) -> Command and Conquer Zero Hour. You must locate your ZH directory, and it's location shall differ if you installed it through The First Decade or Zero Hour by itself. The first step in modding Zero Hour is setting up your directory so you can place your new files in it. Step 1, Setting up Your ZH Directory (if you haven't done this already): This one is my second tutorial and I didn't really see anything addressing on the other sites I visited. Noticing that there aren't too many tutorials at this site, I've decided to write some basic ones up about stuff I have just learned how to do. I have recently begun my crusade into modding generals after all these years that it's been out. Without APCs, it's very difficult to keep your army loaded up with fuel and ammunition. Infantry can also be super useful, as they're the only ground units that can go over mountains and other rocky terrain.ĪPCs are equally important not only because they can help protect your precious infantry, but also because they are the key to supplying your army of mech and air units. Infantry units are the only units that can capture outposts, so their value cannot be overstated. While this is a viable strategy, never forget the importance of infantry units and APCs. Since turn-based strategy games can be kind of tricky to dive into, see below for a few tips to help you in the beginning. Between the cries of “accept ME/tolerate ME/where are MY rights?” and publicly labeling their own friends as racists, I don’t know how these whiners have time to put food in their mouths. On the opposite end of political circus, we find these equally annoying people, and they make Facebook a living hell just like their right-wing counterparts. Political Posts from Whiny, Self-Righteous, Liberal Crybabies: They sound like those morons from the “Goobacks” episode of South Park. In a perfect world, every time I had to see an “Obama is trying to take all our guns!!” post from one of these idiots, I would be allowed to provide them with one punch in the temple. I’m not sure why, but I’m still “friends” with an inordinate amount of these jokers on the old Facebook, and methinks it’s time to flush the proverbial toilet on this nonsense. Political Posts from Right-Wing, Constitution-Thumping, Muslim-Bashing Gun Nuts: While you have an intended audience in mind, the actual audience for such vapid fare wishes they could e-punch you. “If you love God, share/hit the like button!” Although I’m a stone-cold atheist, I’ll try to tread through this without being completely offensive, but I’ll say this – if you do choose to believe in some invisible deity, I guarantee that he/she/it is not taking such pointless social media shenanigans into consideration for when you shuffle off your mortal coil. Oh, who am I kidding? I’m not watching the game. Or my own two eyes while I watch the game. Nobody needs Facebook status updates on every down, every catch, every interception, or every time the head coach is caught by one of the cameramen picking his nose on the sidelines. This usually pertains to whatever football game is on at the time, and since EVERYONE in America is inexplicably obsessed with the game, chances are that everyone is watching the same game. It’s not going to amaze me or make me cry, and the only thing I can’t believe is why everyone keeps falling for it. I hate to break it to you, but most of it is either staged, or is not that interesting to begin with. You know the stuff – “blah blah blah…what he did next will AMAZE you,” or “you won’t BELIEVE what happened next,” or “what she said next will have you in tears.” This garbage meant to drag people in without giving away the punchline needs to stop being passed around like herpes. This phenomenon has taken over the world of Facebook over the last couple years, and it is supremely irritating. These are the things on Facebook that burn my biscuits, and they are in no particular order. I’m sure you have your own list of things you’d like to see banished from your line of sight as you scroll through the dross, and I’ll be sharing mine with you now. While no amount of annoyance will likely ever lead me to shut down my own profile, there are so many things that I see on a daily basis from people I should no longer “follow” that make me seethe with anger. We’re all annoyed by much of what we see on our newsfeeds as we mindlessly scroll, but nonetheless, we’re all still addicted, myself included. It’s a wonder any of us still use Facebook throughout the day, considering what a wasteland it has become. |
